Research interests of our group span the areas of main-group chemistry, organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis. We design functionalized phosphorus(III) and phosphorus(V) based ligands and their transition metal complexes for both catalytic as well as biological studies. These functionalized phosphines have led us to a large number of metallomacrocyclic inorganic rings and cages of various topologies as well as 2D and 3D-metal organic frameworks. We also study the chemistry of multinuclear trivalent phosphorus centers to understand both steric and electronic influences on the metal-phosphorus interactions. Solution thermochemistry of ligand substitution with various transition metals with bisphosphines having different backbone framework is also an active area we are involved with. Many of the phosphine-based transition metal complexes have shown interesting results in the anti-proliferative studies in cancer cells.
