Nanostructured  Materials  Group

- where science is religion and lab the temple

"Cogito ergo sum" or "I think therefore I exist" – This phrase by Rene Descartes summarizes my motivation and passion for Science. I am looking to develop a group of highly motivated people who are bound by their common excitement and motivation to do good Science.

My research interests can be termed as "application-directed fundamental research" on the properties and behaviour of materials in the nano-dimension. Specifically, I am interested to understand the transport properties (electrical, thermal and mass) of one-dimensional and two-dimensional nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes, graphene, inorganic layered materials and their doped variations. The techniques which we most commonly use to build this understanding are :-

  • Vibrational spectroscopy including atomic force microscopy and near-field microscopy.
  • Electrochemistry.
  • Electrical and thermal transport measurements.

This information would be used for variety of applications ranging from field-effect transistors, energy harvesting and storage, water treatment and wearable technologies.
